The natal chart is a roadmap for life, but the influence of astrology isn’t static. As we progress through life, our chart also moves forward with new and changing influences. The moment of birth is always our foundation and any new influences will only add an ingredient to the recipe of life, however our basis always remains the imprinting received from our birth chart.

There are many ways to “progress” a horoscope, but the most widely used is called SECONDARY PROGRESSION. It is a simple technique, substitute one day for each year of life after birth. If you are 40 years old, the progressed chart would be set for 40 days after birth. The progressed chart is then compared through aspects and transits to the natal chart to find the influences for that year from birthday to birthday.

Most computer programs will calculate a secondary progression for you, but if you wish to do them by hand, simply use the same method as for erecting a natal chart, only use the date so many days after the actual birthdate according to the age of the person.
