An aspect is the mathematical relationship between two points in a 360 degree circle of a horoscope map of the Zodiac. Each particular aspect has a unique significance. Aspects can occur between planets, cusps, nodes, and other points in the chart such as solstice points and midpoints. Aspects can also be significant between planets. points, cusps, etc. in two charts. This is mostly used in Synastry (relationship) and progressions/transits (forecasting).

Although every planet and point is in some kind of mathematical relationship with every other planet and point, those aspects that can be divided into the circle by two are, in ordinary circumstances, considered impactful enough to be considered. This is because they indicate an energy flow between inner and outer energies.

Generally, aspects are divided into two categories: easy flow and obstructed flow. Sometimes the obstructed flow aspects are defined, in old astrology texts, as afflictions, difficult, or unfavorable. Easy flow aspects are sometimes defined as easy, or favorable.
